Pigeon Proofing and Control in Bristol and Surrounding Areas

Bird Proofing Solutions We Employ
A system that isn’t thought through and fitted well will just be bypassed. We carefully assess where birds are actually landing and roosting and we think ahead, looking to secondary spots they are likely to migrate to if the main area is blocked.
- Netting :Installed across balconies or rooftops to prevent birds from entering the area.
- Bird spikes: Stainless steel or plastic spikes are fitted, which stop pigeons landing on ledges or flat surfaces.
- Solar panel proofing: Mesh is fitted around panels to seal off the warm, sheltered gap pigeons like to nest in. This does not interfere with access or maintenance.
- Post-and-wire systems: A lower-profile proofing option for flat or heritage surfaces where spikes aren't suitable.
- Fouling removal and disinfection: Safe clearance of contaminated areas before proofing goes in.
We match our materials and approach to the level of bird pressure on the building, so the problem doesn't just relocate to the next ledge along.

Why Pigeons are More than a Nuisance
Pigeon droppings are acidic and corrode stonework, render and metalwork over time, causing long-term structural issues. It also blocks gutters, and creates slip hazards on walkways.
Pigeons commonly carry pathogens, including salmonella and psittacosis, which is an overlooked risk in food premises and public-facing buildings. Once a roosting spot is established, the flock pressure grows rapidly.
Signs You Need Pigeon Proofing
- Birds regularly landing or roosting on ledges or rooflines
- Droppings building up on walkways, window sills, or beneath solar panels
- Nesting material blocking gutters, vents, or drainage channels
- Noise or fouling complaints
Pigeon Control and the Law
Feral pigeons aren't protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, so deterrent and exclusion work is legal in most circumstances. However, disturbing an active nest with eggs or chicks is restricted during nesting season.
We always visit the site for assessment prior to any installation to ensure you are fully compliant. This survey is completely free, with no obligation attached.
